No Prayers From Me

But I truly wish the best health for Don Wildmon, the founder of the American Family Association.

I’ve been quite critical of the AFA and Wildmon over the years, and I think he’s a bigot. But his health is apparently pretty dire and my being an atheist doesn’t mean I don’t feel compassion and empathy for he and his family.

Someone subscribed me to the AFA email alerts about a year or so ago, perhaps as a joke, perhaps in hopes that I’d come to see “the light.” I’ve used those alerts to generate blog posts about the wacky shit the religious right is up to on occasion and they’ve been very helpful in understanding the way they think. I disagree with them on just about every issue, but I still can’t help but feel for Don and his family.

Wildmon was apparently admitted to the North Mississippi Medical Center and diagnosed with a serious case of meningitis, experiencing several days of intensive care.

I’m not praying for him -it would be a waste of time and energy, but I wish him well all the same. The photo is one of the silly AFA sponsored T.E.A. parties.
